Short Series: London Commute #5

Day 10 of 2013 on the streets.

Fabulous evening out enjoying The Modern Makers of London walk by Footprints of London. I like nothing better than learning a few new things about the town that I live in and its curiosities. Did you know that the name of the guy who popularised the toilet was Thomas Crapper? Now you know where the word ‘crap’ comes from!

This one was shot on the way to the walk as I was reaching Farringdon station to commemorate the first passenger train that ran from Paddington to Farringdon exactly 150 years ago. Apparently people queued for hours to be able to ride on the underground train and the tube carried 30,000 people on that very first day.
